Advanced Agile Coaching – Professional Coaching for Agilists

This course is a comprehensive Professional Coaching course specifically designed for people working in Agile environments and looking to accelerate their Agile adoption. The instructor, Damon Poole , is an experienced Enterprise Agile Coach and your fellow students will also come from Agile backgrounds. Example scenarios used in the course are all drawn from real examples that took place in Agile environments.

The course will teach you all of the core competencies of being a Professional Coach, such as creating a coaching agreement, active listening, powerful questioning, using presence and helping people design their own methods for holding themselves accountable. You will also practice everything you learn with fellow participants, get feedback from the instructor, and receive 10 hours of mentor coaching from a PCC level coach.
The course is taught entirely in English and is delivered on-line only using Zoom and Mural.

Accreditation Paths

This is an accredited International Coaching Federation training program which meets the educational requirements for an ICF Credential. The program consists of 60 hours of training: 56 “student contact hours” and 4 hours of short breakout sessions throughout the program. The 60 hours of training can be used to apply for the ICF’s ACC credential.

How This Course Can Help You

Agile involves many changes in mindset, culture, process, and ways of working. As a result, people will get stuck more frequently as they try to figure out how to incorporate Agile in the way that they work. Professional Coaching is a valuable tool for helping people get unstuck and accelerating their transition to an Agile way of thinking and working.

The basis of the course is a new framework which combines coaching objectives, coaching techniques, and coaching principles. This framework was developed from years of Agile Coaching and training Agile Coaches. It will help you stay in the coaching mode and support the coachee in coming up with their own solutions. Each of the coaching techniques comes with examples of “powerful questions” that are open-ended and non-leading. Not only can you apply these techniques 1-1, you can also apply them at the team and organizational levels.

Learning Goals

  • Deep understanding of Professional Coaching with an emphasis on the International Coaching Federation core competencies and the behaviors listed in their PCC markers document.
  • How to apply Professional Coaching in an Agile environment with individuals, teams, and the organization as a whole.
  • To prepare you for ICF ACC credentialing or, in conjunction with another 65 hour program to prepare you for ICF PCC credentialing.
